INTRODUCTION

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education was established to meet the growing demands of schools and parents to provide their children a value-based education which prepares them for life as useful citizens of the country living in  peace, harmony and co-operation.

The Institute has conducted dozens of Teacher Orientation courses for schools which have adopted the programme in the past decade. As a result, systematic trials were organised and evaluation was conducted.

In he past, the Institute has worked in collaboration with several official agencies, such as the Novodaya Vidyalayas, Western Railway, Delhi Municipal Corporation and Govt. of Maharashtra, to promote the Curriculum for human Excellence in their schools.

Recently, similar Institutes to promote the philosophy of Sathya Sai Education for Human Excellence have been established in Thailand, Australia, Zambia, South Africa, Denmark, U. K. and Canada. The Institute in Mumbai is one in he chain of such centres to serve the needs of this region.

In view of the need to reach far away institutions, residential courses have been started for groups of schools.

THE AIM

The institute is established with the following objectives :

  • To propagate the ideals of Sri Sathya Sai Education for Human Excellence in schools and other institutions so that they become active participants of the programme.

  • To organise and operate a Centre for training of teachers and educators in human values.

  • To conduct research and develop techniques, methodology and curricula for the promotion of human values in schools and other institutions.

  • To promote awareness of human excellence by organising value-based Workshops for all sections of the society.

  • To publish research, text and other materials for the promotion of objectives of the Institute.

Orientation of Teachers

The Institute offers a 3-day residential or day course for teachers and educators, providing a comprehensive training in both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching and managing value-based curriculum in schools. The training is based upon Sri Sathya Sai’s philosophy of integral education. There are regular lectures and Seminars to cover the foundations and methodology of instruction.

Residential participants will have to stay at the Institute’s campus where the Sri Sathya Sai Schools are located. They are expected to participate in all activities on the campus, including those in the school to gain a hands-on experience in conducting classes.
